About

InArt – Community Arts Festival brings together a range of cultural events and acts as a meeting point for art, thought and community. It brings together artists, theorists, teachers, students, technicians, psychologists, journalists and other professionals to reflect on and openly share outcomes, processes and issues through dialogue and artistic exhibitions.

The Festival aims to investigate and analyse new strategies for working and interacting with diverse communities that have fewer opportunities for participation and contact with different forms of artistic expression, affirming creation as a space for inclusion and transformation.

The main goal is to promote and disseminate the arts as a pedagogical and social integration tool, raising awareness among professionals and institutions involved in these contexts of the importance of artistic practices in combating social exclusion. Through artistic presentation and the sharing of results, processes and questions, InArt opens up horizons to other aesthetic domains, recognizing difference as an integral part of the creative process.

Although it takes place annually, every two years, InArt adopts a format focused on training in the interim year, deepening participants’ skills and the sharing of artistic practices through community-based experiences.

InArt contributes to building a society in which participating in and enjoying the arts is a fundamental right for everyone.

InArt – Community Arts Festival returns in 2026 to reaffirm its role as a platform for presentation and exchange, bringing together national and international artists around inclusive and participatory artistic practices. In this edition, the festival highlights projects that reflect the diversity of contexts, experiences and languages, fostering dialogue between different approaches to contemporary creation.

With shows at Teatro Meridional (28th–31st May), Recreios da Amadora (6th June) and Teatro do Bairro (24th–27th June), InArt presents a programme of performances, creative processes, workshops and films, complemented by a series of talks.

The 2026 edition highlights the presentation of the final performance of the European project Biokinetics at Teatro Meridional, and concentrates a significant part of the programme at Teatro do Bairro, bringing together national and international artists and fostering encounters between different creative practices and contexts.

The programme offers the public the chance to engage with works and processes at different stages of development, ranging from performances and participatory creations to opportunities for sharing. By supporting these initiatives, InArt reinforces its role as a platform for visibility and circulation for artistic practices that blend contemporary creation with community engagement.
