European performing arts project funded by the Creative Europe programme, dedicated to exploring and expanding training opportunities for performers with physical and sensory disabilities. Biokinetics aims to develop the artistic skills of these performers, encourage their active participation and consolidate a network of collaboration between co-organizers and associated partners. Inspired by the mechanics applied to biological systems, in particular the human motor system, Biokinetics investigates the artistic potential of movements involving prostheses, creating performances that challenge the limits of conventional art.
The project is divided into phases of research, experimentation and creation, spread across Greece, Italy and Portugal, including artistic residencies, movement laboratories and technical and creative skills development sessions. These processes allow the exploration of new movement languages and the expansion of the performers' artistic repertoire, promoting inclusion and innovation in the performing arts.
Biokinetics culminates in a performance that brings together performers from the three partner countries, with live music, complemented by an exhibition of elements and images on the history of prosthetics, presented in each participating country.
