European project dedicated to the promotion of diversity, inclusion and cultural participation, with a focus on the valorisation of the Disability Arts and improving the mobility and visibility of Deaf and/or disabled artists in Europe. It brought together four cultural organisations from Portugal, the United Kingdom, Croatia and Greece, all with consolidated experience in developing audiences and inclusive artistic practices.
Throughout its implementation, Unlimited Access examined cases of diversity in different European contexts through study visits, international creative meetings, presentations of artistic works, dissemination tools (including the European Unlimited festival) and evaluation and co-operation tools, in a total of sixteen activities covering management, training, dissemination and evaluation.
The project aimed to promote inclusion and diversity in the arts, increase the transnational mobility of artists who are Deaf and/or have other special needs, strengthen audience participation and value the art produced by these artists, highlighting their unique outlook of the world and the potential to challenge traditional narratives and paradigms.
The results have led to greater awareness among cultural professionals and European audiences about the Disability Arts, in strengthening networks between artists and partner organisations, and in a broader reflection on the value of difference and the transformative role of art in pushing aesthetic, social and cultural boundaries.
