Cinema

A platform for film creation, production and co-production that integrates artistic development, dissemination, training and programming. It works in the areas of documentary, fiction, experimental, videodance, video art and installation, promoting authorial and collaborative projects that cross different languages and territories.

Its activity includes workshops and masterclasses on video and film language, with a focus on documentary and experimental cinema, as well as social intervention projects and regular cinema programming. Of particular note is the programme of Olhares Frontais, part of Encontros de Viana, as well as other exhibitions and cycles dedicated to contemporary and documentary cinema, developed in collaboration with the director, producer and programmer Pedro Sena Nunes.

Between 1998 and 2025, Vo'Arte produced a total of 90 films, 34 documentaries (short and medium-length), 25 experimental (short films), 4 fiction (short films), 5 video and sound installations (loop), 4 video art (short films) and 18 videodance (short films), shown at national and international festivals and was awarded with 33 prizes and honourable mentions.

The platform has developed a consistent path of collaboration with Pedro Sena Nunes, artistic director of Vo'Arte, ensuring the production and co-production of works that affirm a contemporary artistic vision. Vo'Arte's Cinema area is committed to creating innovative projects and partnerships that, through the language of cinema, offer and construct new perspectives and perceptions on cultural and social realities and customs.
