InShadow![]() Edition 2016 8th InShadow - International Festival of Video, Performance and Technologies From November 10 to December 11 2016
InShadow at the vanguard of Vídeo-Dance in Lisbon InShadow is certified by EFFE - Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe (2015-2016)
The shadow theme extends over Lisbon in a year of firsts and changes. In its 8th edition, the InShadow map changes in order to reach new places. Teatro Camões, Museu do Oriente, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Museu da Marioneta, Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações, Teatro do Bairro, Galeria da Faculdade de Belas-Artes, Espaço Santa Catarina, Espaço Cultural das Mercês, Galeria das Salgadeiras and Revolutionary Accommodation are the welcoming spaces of the InShadow Festival 2016.
InShadow starts in Teatro Camões from 10 to 13 of November with the absolute premiere of Turbulência, a new co-production Vo’Arte with the National Ballet Company. CNB cooperates again with Vo’Arte in a challenge addressed to the team of choreographers composed by António Cabrita, Henriett Ventura, São Castro e Xavier Carmo.
On November 18, the festival presents in Museu do Oriente the national premiere of the Live Cinema Showperformance, an immersive journey through the fantastic universe of Usaginingen (a duo of Japanese artists), where imagination intersects with technology. On November 19, also in Museu do Oriente, Usaginingen promotes a video workshop where participants can reinvent the show of the day before.
From 21 to 25 of November, following the route of the fantastic, LittleShadow challenges the creative and critical sense of children from schools in Lisbon with LAC (Creative Activities Lab) and the International Animated Films Competition, in Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações and Museu da Marioneta.
This year, the International Documentary Competition Sessions will be held for the first time in Cinemateca Portuguesa, privileged place for reflection and debate. From 24 to 26 of November will be screened 13 films from 13 countries, with the presence of some of the filmmakers. The Best Documentary will be awarded with the Luna Andermatt prize, sponsored by the Conserveira de Lisboa.
The International Competition of Video Dance Sessions premiere at Teatro do Bairro, venue of strong artistic expression and continuous presence at the festival, with 44 films from 21 countries. The body moves on the screen from November 29 to the 2nd of December at 21h30 and extends to the stage on December 3 with the performance There Is No Here, Here de Gisle Martens Meyer, a live music video reality on stage. The night of December 3rd concludes with the Awards Delivery Ceremony and Dj Set Le Cirque du Freak. The best Vídeo-Dance is sponsored by Schweppes Portugal and the Best Portuguese Director by Fundação Herdade da Comporta.
The InShadow Festival itinerary continues from November 20 to December 11 through installations and exhibitions at Faculdade de Belas Artes, Espaço Santa Catarina, Centro cultural das Mercês, RA Lisboa and Galeria das Salgadeiras, where drawing and photography follow holographic and interactive installations (IN VITRO, Italy and BOX, Portugal) that defy genetics concepts, and others who question the place of the body and its involvement with the surrounding space. Highlight for the premiere of the works of João Goes and José Carlos Neves.
From November 10 to December 11, body and image claim their place in the screens and stages. Directors, choreographers and national and internacional dancers humanize the work of art and challenge all the audiences to reflect and debate through talks, workshops and masterclasses.
The InShadow Festival stands out internationally in the video dance area and takes a risky path at the intersection of artistic areas of the body and image.
