InShadow![]() 2014 Edition 6th International Festival of Video, Performance and Technologies 26th November to 7th December
This year edition received around 500 applications coming from more than 40 countries with the largest number of participants ever: we screened 46 video dance films, 11 documentaries in competition with 8 awards attributed.
The Festival included 7 performances, 6 special sessions, 6 animated films sessions, 3 exhibitions, 7 installations, 2 concerts and 2 parties, that summed more than 120 hours of programming and a participation of 100 artists and 30 countries represented. In the LittleShadow section we had more than 650 children that were in 3 different activities – performance, animated films and the Laboratory of Creative Activities. And within the Training Section we had 8 workshops,4 masterclasses and the participation of 230 people.
Between other intersections and meetings, InShadow presented various proposals dedicated to the invited country – United Kingdom – every performance were a national premiere and we had a long warmup, with 27 extensions screened across the world.
InShadow was held throughout 12 days in 14 venues, of which 7 were new ones: in São Luiz Teatro Municipal, Teatro do Bairro, Centro Cultural Malaposta, Museu da Marioneta, Museu do Oriente, Museu Bordalo Pinheiro, Centro Nacional de Cultura, Largo Residências, Pickpocket Gallery, Oceanário de Lisboa, Cinemateca Portuguesa, ETIC, FMH e ESTAL.
This year, the InShadow festival presented its most inclusive program ever. Vo’Arte continues to give pioneer steps in the area of accessibility, as a consequence of the work developed with CiM – Integrated Multidisciplinary Company for the past 10 years, and also, since 2013, from the relationship with the European Project Unlimited Access, supporting the best inclusive practices of programming, dissemination and creation in the performing arts.
In this year’s inclusive program there was 2 performances assumed by artists with disabilities (RING THE CHANGES + and RINS), 2 performances with sign language and audio-description on stage (STOP Watching! and Best of You), 1 Special Session, 1 Installation, 1 concert and 2 workshops.
Still within the European cooperation projects, Vo’Arte is also co-organizer of EVDH – European Video Dance Heritage, a pioneer project, with the coordination of Maison de la Dance aiming to preserve the memory of dance in Europe.
